Jessa Duggar Plans to 'Do Things Differently’ Than Her Mom When it Comes to Her Son, Spurgeon
When it comes to her parenting skills, Jessa Duggar Seewald claimed that she planned on doing things differently than her mom Michelle Duggar with it comes to raising her son, Spurgeon Elliot Seewald.
"Spurgeon is still pretty young, but I'm sure that as he continues to grow, I will find that I tend to do some things differently than my mom did," the, 23-year-old revealed to Us Magazine. "That's the beauty of the individual family. No one is identical."
But don't think she won't take any of her own upbringings and pass them on to her son. "There will be variations with little things here and there, but I know that our foundational goals remain the same - to raise our kids to love God and be a blessing to others," she explained.
Duggar welcomed her first child with husband Ben Seewald back November 2015, which is the same month they got married back in 2014. Celebrating their first anniversary together, they also had something else to be excited about -- their son, who's seen below.
The Jill & Jessa: Counting On star admitted that she was blessed to have a mother who had 19 kids so that she could gain knowledge. But her mother also encourages her to be her own type of mother to her new son.
"Every time I come to my mom for advice, she always reminds me that I’ve got this," Seewald said. "There’s no pressure to do things just exactly how she did them, but I’m so grateful for all her advice and help. Even when I feel overwhelmed, she’s always there to encourage me and tell me, 'You’re doing a great job!' That gives me the courage to trust my instincts and do what I feel is best for my baby."
Jill & Jessa: Counting On's Season 1 finale airs next week on TLC May 3, at 9 p.m. ET.
