'Sherlock' Season 4 Spoilers: Do Benedict Cumberbatch & Martin Freeman Have Premiere Date?

It's been nearly two years since Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman were last seen on BBC's Sherlock, but it seems the new iteration of the Victorian duo will be back soon, as they're currently shooting in London -- new episodes could reach TV sooner than we thought! When will season 4 of the modern-day Holmes tale see its premiere date?

Freeman, who plays John Watson in the modern retelling of the classic detective series, stopped by The Graham Norton Show earlier this week to talk about his future projects, including his appearance on Captain America: Civil War and the fourth season of Sherlock. When asked about when fans can expect from him and Cumberbatch back solving crimes, Freeman's answer gave fans hope.

"We are back filming now and the three shows will, I imagine, be out around Christmas," Freeman said, via The Huffington Post UK, in a show scheduled to air later this week. The actor also teased that fans could get a bit invasive during outdoors shooting. "There is always a heightened state of excitement and we sometimes have to respectfully remind them that we have to be focused and it's not a live gig!"

Cumberbatch and Freeman have been spotted filming the new season around London in the past few weeks, and besides being stalked by fans of the show, paparazzi are often around to share snaps from the shoot.

According to Den of Geek, other Sherlock news includes a recently added cast member for season 4: James Holmes, best known for his role of Clive on the BBC comedy Miranda. It's also being reported that the upcoming season (or at least one of its episodes) will take its literary inspiration from Arthur Conan Doyle's story The Adventure of Silver Blaze.
