Star Wars SPOILERS: Mads Mikkelsen Talks Felicity Jones/Jyn Erso Rogue One Story Characters

Other than the first teaser trailer, the timeline, and the fact that Felicity Jones' character is named Jyn Erso, there's been practically no new information regarding this year's spinoff Rogue One: A Star Wars Story -- but that just changed in a major way! Hannibal actor Mads Mikkelsen, also part of the cast, recently revealed some major parentage spoilers about the space opera film.

Mikkelsen recently spoke to Sky News about his upcoming projects, including the Star Wars spinoff that only released its first teaser a few weeks back. He may have talked a little too much. While Lucasfilm usually remains tight-lipped about details of their upcoming projects. There's a lot of secrecy involved, Mikkelsen kind of let something slip just now.

"I read the script and it was very beautiful, and Felicity is playing this lovely, strong woman and I play her father," he said, then pausing, obviously aware of the bombshell he'd just dropped. "And that was too much. I'm sorry."

Still, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Mikkelsen kept one major detail to himself after that slip-up. When asked whether he could confirm rumors that Darth Vader appeared on Rogue One, he cryptically said he could clear the mystery, but wasn't going to do so.

Historically, parentage has been a very big deal in Star Wars. Arguably the most famous scene from the entire saga was that moment where Darth Vader revealed to Luke Skywalker that he's his father. Currently one of the biggest doubts surrounding the new trilogy is who are the parents of new heroine Rey (Daisy Ridley).

Back to Rogue One, it's important to note that Mikkelsen usually plays villains. He made his grand Hollywood début in Daniel Craig's Casino Royale as Bond baddie Le Chiffre. And since then, he's also played movie mega-villain Hannibal Lecter and he has a villainous role in Doctor Strange. Seeing as the actor's usually playing the bad guy, could we have a Luke versus Vader situation between his character and Jyn Erso?

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will premiere on December 16.
