'Ocean's Eleven' Goes 'Ghostbusters': Sandra Bullock & Cate Blanchett Join All-Female Reboot?

The new all-female reboot of cult classic Ghostbusters has gotten a lot of bad press ahead of its premiere later this summer, but it might be starting a new trend of remakes. A beloved George Clooney and Brad Pitt movie series could be next and rumor has it that Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett could be starring in a new Ocean's Eleven reboot.

According to The Playlist, the rumored all-female remake of Ocean's Eleven, which Bullock has been rumored to be attached to for a while, is currently eyeing two-time Oscar winner Blanchett for the project. She's reportedly now in talks to join as the second-in-command in the heist group, much like Pitt's role in the Steven Soderbergh-directed films.

It seems neither Bullock or Blanchett would be playing female versions of the same characters, but rather new ones that have a relationship loosely modeled on the one between Danny Ocean and Rusty Ryan. Though it seems unlikely, so far, it remains unclear at this stage whether Clooney and Pitt would be making any cameo appearances in the heist movie, which is so far being called Ocean's Ocho, which means it'll have a smaller main cast of eight instead of eleven.

While it seems Soderbergh might be involved in the new film, the director attached so far is Gary Ross, who counts the Tom Hanks classic Big among his writing credits, also directing films like Pleasantville.

The Ocean's Ocho movie is expected to feature an all-star cast, and one of the actresses currently circling a part is Oscar winner and box office sweetheart Jennifer Lawrence, who's worked with Ross in the past, as he directed her in the first Hunger Games film. However, Comic Book reports that Warner Bros. is looking to begin filming Ocho during the fall or winter, which could prompt conflicting schedules with the ever-in-demand Lawrence.

Soderbergh's 2001 film Ocean's Eleven was successful enough to span two sequels, each with big names including Julia Roberts, Catherine Zeta-Jones and screen legends like Elliott Gould and Al Pacino. Still, the series is in itself a remake: the original film, released in 1960 as a rat pack vehicle, starring Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin in the two leading roles, with many other iconic performers like Sammy Davis Jr., Angie Dickinson and Cesar Romero joining in.

So far, there has been no official green light on Ocean's Ocho, but at the rate they're going, it seems it could have some of the most interesting actresses in Hollywood.
