Howard Stern News: 'America's Got Talent' Judge Defends Justin Bieber's Anne Frank Comments, Denied $300 Million Lawsuit Against SiriusXM, Tweets Photo of Foot
Howard Stern has been a media ratings giant for over two decades now. First in radio, then book publishing, movies, and now TV with his gig on "America's Got Talent." So when the "King of All Media" does even the smallest things, like say eating his lunch with his feet, then fans want to hear about it apparently. Stern has been in the news quite a bit over the last week. There was the lunch photo he took, his $300 million lawsuit against Sirius radio that was denied, and his defense of Justin Bieber's Anne Frank comments.
When pop star Justin Bieber took time out of his schedule to visit the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, who knew he would be getting himself into the middle of such a controversy. Bieber wrote in the guestbook of the museum, "Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a Belieber." This resulted in plenty of criticism, but not from Stern, who defended the young singer. Stern said on his satellite radio show, "They made a big deal ... first of all, I'm impressed that a young man in that position would even go to the Anne Frank house," Stern said. "Most of these guys who are having that kind of success, they're busy with the girls and the whole thing. They don't even bother to go visit anything of substance. He's a kid, so he writes, 'Gee, I wonder if she would have been a Belieber?' I don't see that as any big deal. People are looking to carry on and pick this kid apart." At least Bieber has one celebrity coming to his defense.
Unfortunately for Stern it doesn't look like he will be getting $300 million he thinks he deserves. The radio host was arguing that SiriusXM owed him an extra $300 million in stock after reaching incentives tied to subscription growth following the 2008 merger between Sirius and XM. However, according to the NY Daily News, an state appeals court denied Stern's claim, ruling the term "Sirius subscribers" doesn't include the XM subscribers the company added after the merger.
In other Stern news, the shock jock tweeted a picture of his lunch this past week. However, Stern was eating his lunch with his feet. The photo (below) shows Stern's foot using a fork to eat his meal instead of his hands. Stern tweeted, "Time for a snack." It looks like Stern has more talents than just being a radio and TV host.
