Shake Shack Gave Away 100 Free Burgers to Celebrate 100th Location
It was back in 2004 that Danny Meyer decided to put up a little food cart set right in the middle of Madison Square Park in New York City. Twelve years later, Shake Shack has become one of the most famous fast food chains in the world, priding themselves in using only 100% natural Angus beef burgers, flat top Vienna beef dogs free of preservatives and additives, and all natural cage-free chicken, which is what sets them apart from all the other fast food chains in the world today.
The burger joint recently officially opened its 100th store at the Boston Seaport. In honor of this very special event in the history of the burger joint, they gave away 100 free burgers at every one of their branches worldwide. (That included the branches in Cardiff, Seoul, London, Tokyo, Istanbul and in many parts of Dubai, among many others.)
There was a catch, however, to this event. The catch was that only the first 100 customers at each location got the 100 free burgers, not including the outlets in the stadiums.
According to Shake Shack CEO Randy Garutti, Foxnews reports, "From our first ever Shack in Madison Square Park twelve years ago, to so many places in between, opening our 100th Shack in the Boston Seaport is an epic milestone for us"
He also mentioned, "We're overwhelmed by the love and enthusiasm from our fans around the world, and this moment wouldn't be possible without them. Here's to bringing more Shacks to local communities around the world!" The 100th Shack located in Boston had also featured something special. Shake Shack teamed up with local chefs Ken Oringer and Jamie Bissonnette in creating the Coppa Burger, which is so named after the much-raved about Italian restaurant at the south end in Boston. Fans of the restaurant will want to check this burger out if you haven't done so already.
The Shacks, which usually open at 11am, opened half an hour early for this memorable event.
It is safe to say that a lot of people arrived even earlier at their nearest Shake Shack in order to grab themselves a free Shackburger. Some might even have camped out overnight to get their fill!
Congratulations to the guys of Shake Shack and here's to 100 more locations in the future!
