Adele Says 'No' to the Super Bowl Halftime Show
There have been rumors going around lately that the Golden Globe and multi-Grammy award winning singer-songwriter, Adele, has been invited to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, and now the singer herself has spoken up to clear the rumors, saying that while there was a chance, she said no.
Adele explained this during her show in Los Angeles. According to freep.com, the singer said, "First of all, I'm not doing the Super Bowl..I mean, come on, that show is not about music. And I don't really - I can't dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I said no." She then went on to say, "I know I'm not Beyonce.."
The NFL however, was quick to respond after her public comments. In cooperation with Pepsi, a company that also sponsors the League, according to independent.ie, they said, "We have had conversations with several artists..however, we have not, at this point, extended a formal offer to Adele or anyone else."
They had also mentioned that they are also currently preparing to give one "fantastic show for Houston." This gives people, even non-football fans, something to look forward to from the upcoming Super Bowl as a lot of people tune in to watch the performances.
The Super Bowl Halftime Show has always been headlined by the best of the best artists over the years, including icons such as Madonna, Prince, Rolling Stones and Michael Jackson. It had even featured the more embarrassing "wardrobe malfunction" incident that happened during Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake's performance. It is like a mini concert more than a halftime show due to the incredible sets and stage designs that are brought out at that time. Last year, ratings for the Super Bowl hit an all-time high with 115.5 million people all over America tuning in for Coldplay, Bruno Mars and Beyonce's performance.
Known for her very emotional and meaningful ballads like "Hello," "Someone Like You" and "Rolling in the Deep," it might seem very unlikely to have Adele grace the stage of the Halftime Show. Then again, if Coldplay had a chance to perform, we should expect to be surprised if ever she does.
Everyone has their picks on who they want to see perform on stage, and since Adele has turned down the idea, we can only wait and see which artists are chosen to perform.
