Amanda Knox and her then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were accused of the 2007 slaying of British student Meredith Kercher. After serving four years in prison, the two were acquitted and released in 2011. But just last month, an Italian court ruling ordered a retrial on the case. So in a recent interview with People Magazine, it came as no surprise when the 25-year-old shared that she sometimes feels "paralyzed" with anxiety. Knox is also set to release her highly anticipated memoir on April 30, entitled Waiting to Be Heard. In the book, Amanda talks about contemplating suicide during her four years in an Italian prison.

According to ABC News, Amanda writes in her memoir that she spent most of her 4-year-sentence alone in her jail cell. It was cold in the winter and hot in the summer and she was only allowed out for one hour a day. In Waiting to Be Heard, Knox details how her thoughts turned to suicide while she was in prison. She says that she considered suffocating herself with a garbage bag or swallowing shards of glass.

The memoir also has some uplifting moments, though. Knox tells the story about writing a letter to her mother the day before she was released from prison, thinking that she might not get out. Luckily, Amanda was arrived home before the letter.

In her interview with People, Knox opens up about her whole ordeal, summing it up in some telling remarks in the magazine article.

"When Meredith was murdered and I was arrested, it was so shocking. It was paralyzing. Everything toppled. Things creep up on me and all of a sudden I'm overwhelmed by the feeling of helplessness and that desperation and fear to even hope. Just that can make my heart race and makes me paralyzed until I can breathe it away."

Though the case is set for a retrial, Italian law does not allow Amanda to be extradited for the court appearance. Her family says that she will mot likely not go back to the country.
