Microsoft Surface Pro 5 might write off the need for a MacBook laptop completely
It has taken years of research and millions of dollars being invested in the development and marketing of Microsoft Surface Pro Tablets and it seems that their gamble might yield some fruits. Microsoft initially released their Surface Pro 4 last year to compete directly with Apple's iPad Pro and Google's Pixel tablets. Obviously, the Surface pro 4 was no match for these two, but Microsoft still pushed further to slaughter Apple's iPads mercilessly, with the Surface Pro 5.
CNET argues that with the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, consumers won't need to have laptop for any reason whatsoever. As a matter of fact, even the most serious Ultrabook will stand challenged by this tablet. Here we are talking about Apple's Mac Book Pro and Asus ZenBook 3, as well as other popular Ultrabooks like Lenovo Yoga. It was rumored that Microsoft might release the Surface Pro 5 by the end of October 2016, together with other minor revives that they have been working on. But statements uttered by Mary Jo Foley, Microsoft's official reporter, didn't confirm this.
At its latest launch, the Surface Pro 5 will hit the market next year (2017), on the eve of spring. PCAdvisor pointed out that this tablet will feature 4K display and this is perceptibly meant to counteract Apple's Mac book Pro. It is common knowledge that the only area where Apple would have beaten other subsequent Utrabooks and tablets in 2017 would have been on the display. Come to think of it, if Microsoft will feature a similar display as the latest MacBook Pro's, in their Surface Pro 5, a stronger processor and probably a lighter build than Mac, then we know that Microsoft has completely nailed Apple on this one.
Other features expected in the Surface Pro 5 are a USB type C port, the latest Intel Kaby Lake processor, a better stylus and at least 8GB worth of RAM. Microsoft will surely include a firmer and more ergonomic keyboard than that of the Surface Pro 4. It's expected that this tablet will have a 256 GB SSD storage disk, but will come in other variants with lower RAM and storage spaces. The Surface Pro 5 is hoped to cost between $899 and $1599.
