'The Crow' Remake News: 'Avengers' Star Tom Hiddleston Latest Rumored to Play Lead Role, Casting Update, Bradley Cooper Out
There have been a lot of rumors and casting news surrounding "The Crow" remake. The carousel of actors rumored to portray the main character has been constantly changing over the last few years. Most recently Bradley Cooper was set to play the leading role, but backed out. Then there were rumors Mark Wahlberg and Channing Tatum were being considered for the part. Now, the latest news surrounding the film is that Tom Hiddleston, who played the part of Loki in "Thor" is being considered to play the part of Eric Draven.
For fans who aren't as familiar with the "The Crow," it was a movie from 1994 that follows a musician named Eric Draven who was murdered and returns from the dead as an avenger or angel type character named "The Crow." Actor Brandon Lee played the original Crow character, but was tragically killed on set of "The Crow" at the age of 32.
"The Crow" remake has been in the works for a few years now and has been having trouble getting off the ground. The movie reboot has gone through a number of directors, writers, and lead actors. As mentioned earlier, "Hangover" star Bradley Cooper was originally slated to play Draven, but backed out due to scheduling conflicts. The Hollywood Reporter had speculated that Mark Wahlberg and Channing Tatum were at one time considered for the part.
The latest actor speculated to take over the role as Draven is Tom Hiddleston. Many "Avenger" fans may know Hiddleston as Loki from the comic book movies. Hiddleston has also worked in "War Horse" and "The Deep Blue Sea." We will have to wait and see if this latest casting rumor sticks as the movie is expected to start shooing this fall.
