Han Solo will not be a typical Star Wars movie

Since the announcement of a Han Solo feature film, a lot of improvements have happened. With the cast starting to build up, it is making fan expectations rise up to a whole new high.

Cinematographer Bradford Young shares his insight in an interview with Collider for the movie Arrival, a sci-fi drama directed by Denis Villenueve. As Young is now onboard the Han Solo project, he states that LucasFilm is behind them with their plans for the film, and would provide assistance throughout the production.

He also shares that Lucasfilm seems to be interested in allowing the filmmakers express the Star Wars movies in their own way. This could be seen with both J.J. Abrams (The Force Awakens) and Rian Johnson (Episode 8) came to the project with their respective cinematographers, some of which they have been working with for a long time.

Speaking of Solo, ComingSoon reports that Alden Ehrenreich would play the title role. He will be joined by Donald Glover who is cast as Lando Calrissian. The film will center on the exploits of Han Solo between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. It could also show how Solo and Chewbacca met, how he got the Millennium Falcon, and the circumstances that defined Han before meeting Luke and Obi-Wan at the Mos Eisley Cantina, which set the motions of the trilogy.

He would be working alongside directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, best known for their work in The Lego Movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and the Jump Street movies. The duo, famous for under-committing and over-delivering in their films, has plans to subvert the expectations fans may have for the flick. With their knack for making "bad ideas" into blockbusters, it would be interesting how they execute their unique vision as they give life to the adventures of young Han Solo.
