Johnny Depp joins ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Sequel, but fans are not happy about it
It has been announced that Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny Depp will star in J.K. Rowling's upcoming sequel film of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
J.K. Rowling (book author and movie screenplay writer) announced back in October 13 during a fan event that there will be 5 films for the Fantastic Beasts franchise. This is according to Variety, the source also stated that Warner Bros. made an announcement in August that the production of part 2 with lead Redmayne has already started.
The movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them starring Eddie Redmayne will be out on November 18, 2016 (U.S.A. release) while the sequel will premiere on November 16, 2018.
One might say that Johnny Depp joining the Fantastic Beast sequel is a good thing. But according to an article from The Standard, fans have taken their anger about Johnny Depp's casting to social media. The anger behind this was apparently because of Amber Heard's divorce from Johnny Depp, the divorce was filed due to the multiple cases of domestic abuse from Johnny.
The divorce papers were filed earlier this year during the month of May. Amber Heard also filed a restraining order against Johnny Depp, Amber had reported her ex partner hitting her repeatedly, throwing a cellphone at her head, and giving her bruises on her eye and cheek. This happened back in May, when the two had a fight in their apartment in Los Angeles.
A tweet by Jeff Sneider said:
"Haven't seen a single positive tweet about Johnny Depp's casting in FANTASTIC BEASTS. This can't be the kind of PR that WB was hoping for..." (@TheInSneider) November 2, 2016
The first film of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is said to include a cameo of Johnny Depp, unless Warner Bros. happen to change their mind due to fans' negative reaction.
