GOT Actor Ciaran Hinds takes Justice League Villain role as Steppenwolf
Justice League fans were given a teaser as to who would be playing the lead roles in the movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It did not, however, reveal who would be playing the role of Steppenwolf, the main baddie that the heroes would be up against. Recently, it has been revealed that the role was given to veteran actor Ciaran Hinds.
According to /Film, the production has been tight-lipped on who would be playing the part of Steppenwolf. It was not indicated as well when Hinds, the Irish actor who is known for his role in HBO's Game of Thrones as Mance Rayder, joined the Zack Snyder-directed film to portray the character.
The Wrap also shares that the antagonist will be brought to life through the use of motion capture. This will be similar to Josh Brolin's Thanos of Avengers: Infinity War, and more recently, Dormammu of Doctor Strange, which was played by Benedict Cumberbatch. The alien-like look that he will be sporting in the movie is completely different from his appearance in the comics, which is more similar to a human wearing some bizarre armor.
The villain was first hinted in the deleted scene of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, released some days after the film hit the theatres. The deleted scene shows Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) communicating to Steppenwolf through the Kryptonian ship's technology. He is then seen with three boxes before cutting contact. These three boxes, known as the "Mother Boxes", will be part of the movie's plot device. These boxes, teased by producer Charles Roven, were entrusted to Amazonians, Atlanteans and mankind a long time ago due to some events that happened back then.
The comics portrayed Steppenwolf as one of Darkseid's Elite. In the recent New 52 reboot, he commands the Parademons in an invasion on Earth, clashing with Earth's superheroes.
