Apple leaks reveal massive 2017 iPhone SE cancellation
Ming-Chi Kuo, the KGI Securities Analyst confirmed earlier that Apple has decided to cancel the annual upgrade of the most successful iPhone in 2016.
As per Forbes, Kuo said that it was Apple who has decided to cancel the release of the 2017 update of the iPhone SE. This is merely a sad news to all economic buyers, as this iPhone SE is one of the cheapest yet reliable and affordable iPhones.
Additionally, there are twofold reasons why the cancellation is made possible. The first one is to increase margins on the 2016 iPhone SE as its older components reduced in price. And secondly, to reduce the risks of cannibalization that a 2017 iPhone SE could have on sales of the more profitable iPhone 7.
Meanwhile, according to GameNGuide, Kuo's decision to single out totally the iPhone SE upgrades is very reasonable due to its great impact on the sales of the iPhone 7, for customers always prefer to buy the Apple's budget-friendly models. Also, the total shipment of the volume of iPhone 7 will decline early on 2017 due to the small demand of this Apple variant in Asian countries.
After all, the iPhone shipments will be more likely to drop at the edge of 10% in the second quarter of 2017 with the sales at circa 35M compared on the 2016 40.4M sales in the second quarter. That is why; Kuo noted that in order to save the 2017 sales for the second quarter, it is best to cancel the marketing of iPhone SE models.
To recall, this iPhone SE was first introduced in the market back in March 2016. And this iPhone SE stands out due to its built-in and such powerful features that can last and drop jaws of the customers aside from its notable low price, making it more cost-effective. And now, no more iPhone SE anymore, for the entire marketing was canceled.
