New Rogue One Trailer has more fights, more X-Wings and more Vader! [VIDEO]
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is just around the corner, and the newest trailer gives a glimpse on some of its highlights. With what the trailer brought, this sequel-prequel is building up to be just as awesome as The Force Awakens.
An interesting point of the trailer, which was released internationally, includes the introduction of Lyra (Valeria Kyle), as she gives a young Jyn Erzo a crystal and reminds her to "Trust the Force." The crystal, as Comicbook shares, is a Kyber crystal, which is a power source for Jedi lightsabers, and, coincidentally, the Death Star's laser. The adult Jyn is played by Felicity Jones.
The trailer shows how Jyn becomes part of the rebellion, as it reveals that her father (Mads Mikkelsen) was the one who sent the information to the rebels. It turns out that her father was among those who were tasked by the Empire to build the Death Star. Jyn and her ragtag team will need to take plans of the Death Star so the rebellion can find a way to destroy it.
Several scenes from key battles were also shown in the trailer. There are snips with the rebels fighting on a desert-like planet, as well as a dogfight showcasing the X-Wings. The Death Star is also given an extended exposure this time around.
Since this is set in between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, Darth Vader appears as well, with more screen time than the last trailer. Still voiced by James Earl Jones, he is shown having an exchange with the movie's main antagonist, Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn). Cinemablend notes that many speculate that Vader and Jyn would be sharing the screen at least once in the movie, due to his inclusion on the trailer.
Perhaps, in true Star Wars fashion, K-2SO brought the best bit of the trailer. The droid, voiced by Alan Tudyk, sets the expectations for the team's mission, stating that "there is 97.6% chance of failure."
For one thing, the trailer surely sets the expectations high for the Gareth Edwards-directed film, which will premiere on December 16th.
