“The Blacklist” S4 News: Kirk is gone but not for good? Red drugged to admit he is Liz’s dad
Last week's "The Blacklist" episode was its season 4 midseason finale episode with a title 'Dr. Adrian Shaw: Conclusion.' The episode reeked with plot twists leaving fans in speculation. In the episode, Red Reddington seemed to have successfully stopped Alexander Kirk from ruining Liz Keen's life. But before Kirk was completely out of the scene, Red confessed to Kirk that he is indeed Liz's dad.
Parent Herald shared this gripping revelation to fans in a report saying that although this confession is something that viewers have been looking forward to, it raised more than questions than answers.
Indeed Kirk confessed to Red that he is Liz's father but this was after Reddington drugged him with chemicals. Under the drug's power, Kirk said, "What do you want me to say? Yes, Elizabeth is my daughter." Over the course of the series' Kirk has shown sincere interest in Liz which could hint that he could be her father. But still fans of the show seemed too hesitant to believe Kirk's confession.
Writer and "The Blacklist" producer Daniel Gerone tweeted that fans should believe in Kirk saying that the character never lies. But did he forget that Kirk once said that he was not her biological dad? Showrunner Jon Bokenkamp on the other hand has mentioned that it would be best to let the characters answer this: "Anything that's meaningful is in the scripts and on the screen. Everything else is noise."
Morning News USA also reported the show's midseason episode saying that thanks to Red, Kirk is no longer a problem for Liz. Bokenkamp said that he thinks that this may be the last time that viewers will see Kirk.
Meanwhile, there was also another controversial scene in the episode that made fans speculate about Kirk's fate. Kirk was about to inject a chemical into his neck when Reddington told something to Kirk that made him freeze. Kirk stopped his actions and spared Red's life. No one knows what Red told Kirk that gave him the upper hand. Viewers said that it could be about Katarina Rostova, Liz's mother. He could have told Kirk that she is still alive.
"The Blacklist" season 4 will return on NBC on January 4.
