In the wake of recent political developments in the US, writers of the CBS series "Madam Secretary" have been very careful in their choice of plots. The series has never hesitated in tackling sensitive issues before such as terrorism but now it keeps its plots positive and effective in such a way that it captures all the complexities without attracting controversy.

"Madam Secretary" season 3 episode 6 'The Statement' was featured last week and was all about terrorism and the undeniable strong feelings that victims have after an attack. TV Fanatic gave a recap about 'The Statement' and in the episode; Matt Mahoney was under suspicion after a terrorist blew up a business establishment in his hometown. Matt attracted suspicion because he and the suspect were members of the same mosque.

It was hard for Matt to prove his innocence. He was even advised to give a statement to the press about his innocence but he hesitated thinking what good would this do. Lucky for Matt, the bomber was caught and he was able to clear his name. Matt gave a resounding message in the episode stating: "When an Islamic extremist commits atrocity, every Muslim is implicated. All my years of public service, every ounce of decency I've ever shown is erased by other people's fear and revenge."

Meanwhile, episode 7 'Tectonic Shift' will air next and will feature the show's director and executive producer Eric Stoltz as Will, Elizabeth's brother. GamenGuide reported on the next episode of "Madam Secretary" and the report said that plot would be about Venezuela as a strong quake hits the country.

Will will have a hard time deciding if he should join a humanitarian effort to deliver relief and aid to earthquake victims or landing a job at the Walter Reed Medical Center. This episode is said to have a few flashbacks of young Will interacting with his big sister Elizabeth.

Although the plot may be less political in nature, it will depict the struggles of people who volunteer for humanitarian works putting off their career and families on the line. This is also not the first time that an executive of "Madam Secretary" has appeared in the show. Apparently, Morgan directed two season premieres while guesting in some of the show's episodes.

"Madam Secretary" season 3, episode 7 'Tectonic Shift' will air November 20 on CBS.
