Sword Art Online will be crossing swords with Namco Bandai's mobile game Tales of Link. Available until the 21st of November, the event allows players of Tales of Link to do quests and earn rewards based from the light novel and anime series.
Some highlights of this crossover event include quests involving Sword Art Online's floating castle called "Aincard Offensive." Completing quests during the crossover merits players with special rewards. Silicon Era also adds that a daily login gift is also available, rewarding players just for logging in.
Another feature that the crossover offers is the opportunity to face Asuna of Sword Art Online in battle. Nicknamed "Flash of Light", defeating this adept warrior gives victors a chance to use the character in battle, as well as some exclusive Super Rare (SR) gear, according to Bit Bag. These include the Lambent Light, Elucidator, Dark Repulser and the Coat of Midnight. The first item is Asuna's weapon of choice; the other three items are the signature weapons and armor of Kirito, Sword Art Online's lead character. And while Kirito is not available in the game as either a playable character or a NPC, obtaining his equipment could make the character pose as Kirito himself.
Tales of Link is a game released for iOS and Android on 2014 in Japan, and 2016 in North America. The game has player take the role of Savior, an amnesiac travelling with Sara, an adventurer, and Lippy, a divine spirit, as the go on a journey to seal the seeds of ruin in the world of Liafyse. The game is also a crossover game in itself, as it feature different characters from the various Tales titles.
Sword Art Online, on the other hand, started out as a series of light novels in 2009. It follows the story of Kirito and his journey in the eponymous Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG) that players get into through the use of a device called NerveGear. Players were trapped in the game upon its release, and they have to reach the 100th floor of the floating Aincrad Castle for them to logout. Adding the fact that death in the game translates to death in the real world as well, there was chaos in the game world.
