Trinidad James 'All Gold Everything' [LISTEN] 2013 XXL Freshman Class Artist Talks; Rick Ross, Def Jam Record Deal, New Straight Hair, Fashion, Fame and Side Chicks
Mr. All Gold Everything, Trinidad James has new hair, a new record deal, and a new rank as a 2013 XXL Freshman Class inductee. The Atlanta based rapper stopped by New York's Power 105.1 to talk Rick Ross, his Def Jam deal, fashion and more.
When he first stepped on the scene in his music video "All Gold Everything," the Trinidad and Tobago native was compared to Jerome, a tacky yet lovable character on the '90's hit sitcom "Martin." With his Afro, gold teeth, and country drawl, fans came to respect Trinidad James' unique flow and somewhat abnormal appearance. Since then James has evolved.
With hair silky and longer than most of his weave wearing video chicks; James rocks a straight, seemingly permed due, and shorter nails. His new look and new record contract, with Def Jam is just the beginning for James, who says he continues to work on his own stuff and just "does him."
He went to his native Trinidad, for his "Female Welcomed" music video, and is now stateside preparing for the XXL Freshman Class Tour. While James said that he enjoys making music, he understands that nothing is forever, and is aware of speculation that he may not live up to expectations.
"Either way I am going to make money," he said. He used to own a clothing store in Atlanta.
As he prepares for another tour, he expressed what he has learned in the hip-hop industry. One of the most popular lessons involved the Rick Ross controversy. "When you do a song, you listen to it, and at least one other person is with you," James said, "That's that co-sign person, and when you put it out, it's on you."
Trinidad James will join the rest of the 2013 XXL Freshman Class this summer for a cross-country tour. The tour will start in Philadelphia, PA (May 1) with Big K.R.I.T. and Action Bronson, then hit Los Angeles, CA (May 18) with Bronson, Ab-Soul and Schoolboy Q performing for their home base and move on to New York City (May 21) with all of the Freshman class hitting the stage, according to MTV News.
