Gigi Hadid Apologizes for Melania Trump Impersonation; Mrs.Trump Remains Silent
Gigi Hadid's impersonation of Melania Trump on stage at the American Music Awards drew massive negative comments from social media. People called her rude, disrespectful and insensitive. But despite what happened, there are still no comments from Melania Trump or from President elect Donald Trump about the incident. Melania, who also regularly posts on social media, has never updated her Twitter account since election day.
Gigi plumped her lips and roasted Melania Trump on stage saying: "I love my husband, President Barack Obama, and our children, Sasha and Malia." Hadid's performance took from the future first lady's controversial RNC speech. Pharoah was also on stage with Gigi Hadid.
The Chicago Tribune reported Gigi Hadid's impersonation along with her response to people who started an online hate campaign over her. The supermodel said that her performance was done in good humor and she never wanted to hurt Melania or the Trump family. She added that she took time to check her script and even removed or replaced parts of it that she thought was inappropriate.
Her response was handwritten and was posted on her official Twitter account. Gigi said that she believes that Melania understands how show business goes and how shows are done. She also offered her apologies to people that she might have offended because of her impersonation.
Meanwhile, USA Today listed a few of the most powerful comments on Gigi Hadid's Melania Trump impersonation. Gigi was called a bully, saying that she should not stand up for people being bullied because she was a bully and was disrespectful. One commenter said that she was shocked to watch the model mock the First Lady and this makes her disrespectful to women. Still another commenter told Hadid to apologize.
Melania Trump has once took the RNC speech controversy into her own hands by posting a message from the Trump's in-house staff writer. Meredith McIver apologized for her mistake for not checking Michelle Obama's previous speeches before she wrote Melania's RNC speech. She also said that Melania liked Michelle Obama and mentioned a few passages from Michelle's speeches as inspiration.
McIver said that she was very sorry and even offered her resignation to Donald Trump but he rejected it. Apparently Trump said that people make innocent mistakes and that one should learn to grow from them. Being silent on Gigi Hadid's impersonations could be one way Trump is teaching her a lesson from her mistakes as well.
