Since Phil Jackson retired as the Los Angeles Lakers head coach, there's just something about the Lakers coaches that always causes controversy. Mike Brown was fired, the team lacked a coach for several games, and now current coach Mike D' Antoni called Kobe Bryant a fan to the distaste of commentator Stephen A. Smith.

"I hate to say this so early in the morning but, who the hell do you think you are D'Antoni?" Smith asked in response to D'Antoni referring to one of the greatest basketball players of all time as a fan.

In a recent press conference D'Antoni called the five-time champ and arguably one of the best players in the league a "fan." The comments ignited a full out tongue lashing from Smith. Smith denounced D'Antoni demoting Bryant to fan status, as Bryant sits on the sidelines for the 2013 NBA Playoff's due to injuries.

Smith said D'Antoni owes "a public apology." Noting that based on Kobe's successful career and longevity on the Lakers newbie coach D'Antoni had no right to refer to Kobe with such informality. Smith attacked D'Antoni's coaching abilities and reminded viewers how the Lakers barely made it into the Playoffs this year. Smith said that although D'Antoni is "no scrub as a coach, there is nothing about him that you associate with greatness."
