Words that traditionally have never been paired up are making headlines nationwide. Gay NFL Players have become a trending topic as rumors about gay players swirl.  With the announcement of Alan Gendreau, possibly becoming the first gay NFL kicker, on the heels of several gay NFL rumors, fans wondering if the NFL is progressing to openly discuss players sexualities.

Former Tennessee State kicker, Alan Gendreau is just a "kicker that happens to be gay," as he told the New York Times. Gendreau has his eye on the NFL, following a record-breaking college career.  He was the all-time lead scorer in Sun Belt Conference history, and the Apopka, Fla., native amassed 295 points in his career at Murfreesboro, according to CBS.

Not only is Gendreau an exceptional kicker, he would also like to be a role model for other gay sports players. "All those kids playing sports in the South or anywhere else," Gendreau told Outsports. "Kids who are afraid to be themselves, I just want to put my arm around them and help them. And if my story can do that, I figure I owe it to them to give it the best ending I can."

Although he wants to go pro, and also tell people he sleeps with men, as if that effects his kicking abilities Gendreau said that he does not have an agent

It's rumored that numerous current NFL players will come out in the coming weeks - or at some point during the 2013 season - there aren't any openly gay football players in the league currently.

Mstarz News reported Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker and gay rights activist said that at least four NFL players are preparing to come out as gay. Since then, rumors that Kerry Rhodes is gay have come out; however no players have "came out" as gay.
