George Michael's Family Counters: 'George Wasn't A Heroin Addict'

George Michael's family denied the accusations hurled at the "Last Christmas" singer that he was using heroin prior to his death. Family and friends asserted that the 53-year-old English singer wasn't hooked on any type of opiates that could be used as a recreational drug that would induce euphoric effects.

"He was no addict. The suggestion George was suffering with heroin addiction or used it in the weeks before his death is entirely false. Fans have been celebrating his life and there's no place for such unpleasant and false allegations," a family source told The Mirror UK.

Michael died of heart failure which was made public by his manager. This refutation was made as the website mentioned that claims were made preceding Michael dying alone on the morning of Christmas day he was already having a personal battle with addiction to heroin. It has been a known fact however that Michael had his own series of drug busts.

The soul crooner throughout his professional career had sold over 100 million copies of his career. He had a very successful solo career which would then be put on hold due to legal battles with his record label and was then polarized due to his sexuality.

Michael's partner Fadi Fawaz was the one who discovered the singer as he was "lying peacefully in bed." The couple was supposed to grab a quick Christmas lunch when Fawaz, a celebrity hairdresser, heartbreakingly observed Michael's lifeless body, according to The Telegraph.

The popstar's neighbors near his home in Goring-on-Thames, as mentioned in the website gave their own accounts on how Michael became a rare face to spot during the last few months.

"He has changed over the years, got a lot bigger and wore glasses. He was very self-conscious. He just did not look like George Michael anymore. It's very sad," a pub owner who wanted to remain in anonymity revealed. Michael was industriously finishing his "Freedom" documentary which was set to be aired in March next year.
