BBC's (and BBC America's) legendary hit show Doctor Who returns tomorrow evening with its season seven episode "Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS." That is right, fans! We get to have an adventure completely inside the wondrous machine that usually transports viewers (and the Doctor and his companions) to new places and times. But what happened last week in "Hide" that leads us into tomorrow's journey? Has the Doctor (Matt Smith) gotten any closer to figuring out Clara's (Jenna-Louise Coleman) story? (SPOILERS to follow)

"Hide" opens with Alec Palmer played by Dougray Scott (Mission Impossible 2, Ever After) and his assistant Emma Grayling (played by relative newcomer Jessica Raine) conducting a sort of communication with an apparent ghost in a haunted house. It turns out Emma is a sensitive to ghosts (think a medium or even a psychic) so she is perfect for this interaction. The ghost baffles the two, but luckily the Doctor and Clara show up.

After some creepy and tense searching and probing, the Doctor concludes that the "ghost" is actually a lost time traveler that is stuck in a collapsing parallel realm of sorts (he explains it MUCH better in the show, I apologize). He also deducts that something seemingly sinister is trapped as well, and is chasing this time traveler who is named Hila (Kemi-Bo Jacobs).

The Doctor amplifies Emma's psychic abilities in order to open a rift into the Hila's collapsing realm and manages to save her, but he gets trapped. Clara then decides to pilot the TARDIS into the dangerous area despite the risk of also being stranded there.

Luckily, Palmer convinces Grayling to try to open the rift again by finally admitting he loves her, which gives her a boost. After being chased by the creepy creature, the Doctor gets out and all seems well until he realizes why this creature was chasing him: His also creepy companion was stuck in our realm! So the Doctor and Clara save this weird thing and all ends well!

Oh and Hila is most likely related to Emma and Alec and that is why the psychic bond was so strong. YAY!

Here is a behind the scenes look at the "Hide," which provides an explanation of the wonderful episode:

The last time we got to interact with the TARDIS was in almost two years ago in season six's episode "The Doctor's Wife." Then guest writer Neil Gaiman managed to put the TARDIS into woman's body ("Idris" played wonderfully by actress Suranne Jones). It was funny and mostly emotional. So what do we have in store for our journey to the time machine's center? Plus, these last few episodes have shown us that the TARDIS might not actually like Clara. How will that work out tomorrow night? Well luckily, we have some preview clips available to us!

Here is a video clip of Matt Smith introducing the next episode, followed by the full trailer for "Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS":
