‘Sleepy Hollow’ Season 4 premiere: After Abbie's death, what is Ichabod Crane's next mission?

The "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 premiere opened with Ichabod Crane's new life after the unexpected death of his partner in the show's last season. With new allies, Ichabod continues his mission, but first, he has to find Abraham Lincoln's head.

The main protagonist will be catapulted into a new environment, TV Line reported. He will be joined by new characters and a new arch-nemesis.

'Sleepy Hollow' Season 4 Episode 1 recap

In the first episode, "Columbia", viewers see Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) being interrogated by a stranger in a place in Washington DC. He manages to make a run for it, but finds out that he was held in a place that had been tracking down his and Abbie Mills' exploits.

Ichabod manages to escape, but when he gets to the Lincoln Memorial, he finds that the head of the statue of Abraham Lincoln has gone missing. Meanwhile, Agent Diana Thomas (Janina Gavankar) and her partner encounter a demon.

Her partner gets wounded, but Thomas escapes with her life. Ichabod finds them and reveals to her the truth about demons and monsters walking the earth.

Soon, the two of them learn about a secret organization, founded by George Washington, aimed at protecting the world from dangerous supernatural creatures. They also learn that John Wilkes Booth had summoned a demon to kill President Abraham Lincoln.

They are able to defeat the demon and Ichabod meets up with friend Jenny Mills (Lyndie Greenwood). The show, although fast-paced, dedicates a few moments to remembering Nicole Beharie's character, Abbie Mills.

New friends and foes in 'Sleepy Hollow' Season 4

Season 4 Episode 1 ends with Agent Thomas' daughter sketching a portrait of Ichabod Crane despite not having met the man. The show also hints at a new villain, billionaire Malcolm Dreyfuss (Jeremy Davies).

Fans everywhere had been devastated at the death of Agent Abbie Mills in Season 3. According to IBTimes, the character's death was unexpected, but had to be done. The producers were also excited to introduce new characters to the show.

Apparently, Ichabod leaving Sleepy Hollow is meant to welcome a new wave of adventures, in a new place, with new characters. "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 Episode 2, "Plain Sight", will air on Jan. 13, 2017.
