Ford announces return of Ranger, Bronco pick-ups
Automaker Ford recently announced the return of two of its iconic ranges - Ranger and Bronco. The vehicles will be built at Ford's assembly plant in Wayne, Michigan.
The North American International Auto Show recently concluded in Detroit this week. The event witnessed several launches and among them was Ford who managed to garner much attention; thanks to their decision of bringing the two iconic ranges back - Ranger and Bronco. According to a report published by Yahoo, the automaker announced the return of two nameplates, both of which were one-time hot sellers for the company.
According to the information given on the website, the mid-size Ford Ranger is expected to re-launch in 2019 and the mid-size SUV that is the Bronco will be debuting a year later, i.e. 2018. These two dates back way in time as the company first produced the Bronco between 1966 to 1996 and the Ranger was sold in North America between 1983 to 2011. As per report published by WKBN, both the vehicles will be built at Ford's assembly plant in Wayne, Michigan.
The decision to come re-enter the market with the mid-size pick-up frays in believed to be motivated by the recent success that GM enjoyed when they launched the mid-size GMC Canyon and also the Chevrolet Colorado pick-ups. These two were selling like hot cakes and General Motors managed to make up much of the market share there was.
Joe Hinrichs, Ford's president of the America branch told the media that were present at the show that he observed a rise in the demand of consumers wherein they were asking for a generation of trucks that are also quite fun to drive as well. He believes that the Ranger model is for truck buyers who want an affordable, functional, rugged and maneuverable pick-up that is tough as well. On the other hand, the Bronco will be a no-compromise, mid-size 4x4 utility for thrill seekers who want to venture way beyond the city life.
