Torrent Sites Leak Popular Movies Online: ‘La La Land,’ ‘Arrival,’ ‘Moonlight’ Among List
Torrent sites and various P2P pirate groups have leaked a copy of popular movies released in 2016. Although this leak was anticipated much earlier, the movies started to appear online only in the last week.
At the end of each year, special movie screeners for a couple of best movies released in the year are sent out to industry insiders for review, who then cast their votes for the Oscars and other awards. According to Torrent Freak, the pirated copies of these movie screeners start to appear online as soon as the distribution begins.
The "screener season" for the torrent sites and P2P pirate groups start early as the month of December, during which the screeners are sent out. However, this year was a bit unusual as the movies did not leak as anticipated.
Only a few movie leaks were reported during the Holiday Season, especially around Christmas. However, the rest of the days went quite, unlike what was being expected. This quiet period was followed up with the leak of the Denzel Washington movie "Fences."
Now not more than five DVD screeners of the popular movies released in 2016 have been leaked by several P2P pirate groups, including "4rrived," and "Hive-CM8." The five movies leaked by the torrent sites include, "La La Land," "Moolight," "Arrival," "Hidden Figures" and "Patriots Day,"
Hive-CM8 once swore never to release pirate screeners again before the official theatrical release of the film. However, with the leak of these popular movies released in 2016, it seems like the infamous pirate is back in action again.
The BGR reports that Hive-CM8 is not planning to leak all screeners passed on to the industry insiders this year. But it will certainly try to acquire as many as it can. While torrent users may not get to see as extravagant screener-fest as they witnessed in 2016, they may still be able to catch a few great deals.
