Joel Is Just A Ghost In 'The Last of Us 2' Based On Clues Left On The Released Trailer
Naughty Dog's legendary video game "The Last Of Us" harboured so many awards that a video game could acquire. Upon its release in 2013, "The Last Of Us" is unbeatably one of the best games of its generation. From its spectacular graphics, story, gameplay and characters, Naughty Dog is going to fulfil its ultimate promise, "The Last Of Us Part II."
Upon the first trailer premiere of "The Last Of Us Part II," many were beyond excited on what will become of Ellie and Joel. Of course, Neil Druckmann and Naughty Dog was very careful and intelligent in somehow releasing a very vague trailer that left us asking too many questions. According to Forbes, creative director Druckmann's statements only provided very limited details on the sequel that do not outline the specific story.
Druckmann only revealed during the PlayStation Experience that "The Last Of Us 2" will revolve around hate and that Ellie will be the main protagonist, thus future players will definitely play as Ellie. "The Last Of Us 2" will be set 5 years later after the prior game. Evidently, Ellie has become more mature and physically stronger. But the main question left hanging is: Is Joel dead or alive?
Back to the released trailer, we can see that Joel was coming to Ellie who was playing the guitar after recently killing some alleged fireflies. As Game Rant further explained, there is one vital detail in his one line that has provided further argument of his death.
"What are you doing, kiddo?" he asks Ellie. "You really gonna go through with this?"
The source smartly pointed out that Joel used the pronoun "you" instead of "we," which indeed make sense for the alleged speculation. Fans of "The Last Of Us" can undoubtedly tell that Joel is such an overprotective father-figure to Ellie that he would not definitely allow her to do something so dangerous without him or his presence at all.
Thus, many conclude that Ellie was being allowed to take the enemy alone for there is no "alive" Joel in the story to stop her plans. Ellie then said in "The Last Of Us 2" trailer: "I'm gonna find and I'm gonna kill every last one of them" which is a singular pronoun as well.
For the meantime, the release of "The Last Of Us 2" has yet to be announced. Currently, it has been confirmed for the PlayStation 4.
