Apple is rumored to be working on a second-generation Apple Pencil, alongside the new iPad Pro models. It is rumored that the pencil could potentially solve where to put the input device when it is not being held in a user's hand.

Weibo, a Chinese website reported on Wednesday that an "Apple Pencil 2" will launch this spring, with a new magnetic system that will allow it to temporarily attach to an iPad, thereby allowing users to place the Apple Pencil on the iPad securely when not in use. It will attach magnetically just like the iPad Smart Cover.

Mahable reported that the developer filed patents that has revealed it interest in creating pencils that will allow users to attach them to the side of an iPad or bezel. Currently, there are other third-party Apple Pencil sleeves on the market that has accomplished this feature including the Moxiware Apple Pencil Magnet.

In addition, the update revealed that the "Apple Pencil 2" will feature a standard pen clip that will allow users to clip the Apple Pencil to their pocket for easy access and to a desk to prevent them from rolling down.

The Apple Pencil was originally launched late in the second half of 2015 with the 12.9 inches iPad Pro, but support was added by the debut of the 9.7 inches iPad Pro last year. It seems the information from Weibo is based on a solid ground as both models are expected to be updated this spring, thus providing the opportunity for the second-generation Apple Pencil.

The two new iPad Pro models are expected to feature an A10X processor, with the smaller Pro variant sporting a larger display at 10.5 inches that would allow it to have a 326 pixel per inch density, same as the pixel density of the 7.9 inches iPad mini, Appleinsider reported. The 9.7 inches and 12.9 inches iPad Pro have a lower pixel density of 264 pixels per inch.

The Apple Pencil which is intended to serve primarily as a drawing and writing tool, features advanced sensors for tilt and pressure sensitivity which pave way for a precision greater than a typical stylus. However, fans are hoping the second generation apple pencil will cost less than $99.
