"The Last Of Us 2" is currently on its way and it will feature Ellie as the main character. The sequel will not be including Joel, which is the prequel's main character. With the events from "Left Behind" and Riley's death, it is possible that the game will explore more about Ellie's sexuality. A new love interest is also expected by fans.

As reported by Polygon, the game's creative director Neil Druckmann revelaed that there will be a "The Last Of Us Part 2" on the  PlayStation Experience 2016. The game will be set five years after the first game's events. Ellie is now 19 years old and is fueled by hate and passion to use her immunity and life to kill the virus. It is stated by Druckmann that it is named "Part 2" because it will be a "complementary story to the first game" and both parts combined will tell a much larger story.

According to Video Games Republic, not much is known yet about the release date of the game. Fans of this game are hoping that the sequel will hit the market this year. Druckmann hinted that the game will be so much different now that Ellie will be the major character. The game will also house a far darker tone than the last game as the trailer showed a dark and vengeful Ellie aiming for revenge.

So where is Joel now? There are speculations that Joel is not going to be in the sequel because he is long since gone. This is because of the fact that Naughty Dog did not show Joel's face in the trailer. The trailer also seem to imply the use of "you" in Joel's line "What are you doing, kiddo? You really gonna go through this?" which implies that Ellie will be in the move alone. Ellie's use of "I" in her lines also implies the same thing.

With Ellie now the main character, what are we going to see in this sequel? Stay tuned for more updates.
