Taylor Swift, $17 Million Mansion [PHOTOS]: 'Red' Singer Purchases Rhode Island Beachfront Home, Pays Cash!
Taylor Swift just dropped $17.75 million in cash to purchase a ritzy Rhode Island beachfront mansion. Originally priced at $20 million, the "I Knew You Were Trouble" singer talked down the price a bit and allegedly paid via wire transfer. Though it might have been a price drop, surely having the international pop star in the neighborhood makes up for it. But with this new home on her list of residences, many people are remembering her latest real estate move involving ex-boyfriend Conor Kennedy earlier this year.
After purchasing a home in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, that happened to be near her then-boyfriend Kennedy, rumors about Swift buying up property around the boys she liked began to surface. "People say that about me, that I apparently buy houses near every boy I like-that's a thing that I apparently do. If I like you I will apparently buy up the real-estate market just to freak you out so you leave me," she refuted in an interview with Vanity Fair.
And whether or not she bought the home for strange reasons, after she sold it she made a $1 million profit. According to a source, the home was "like a house-flip. A good short-term investment."
So now with this new purchase in Rhode Island, will rumors arise about a possible live interest living close to the mansion? So far, the big story about this $17 million home is that Taylor paid the large amount in cash. According to Forbes, the 23-year-old made about $57 million last year, so this purchase pretty affordable for Swift. Who knows, though? Maybe some rumors about Taylor trying to be close to some new beau will pop up soon.
For now, we can just marvel at the 11,000-square foot mansion that Taylor has added to her list of homes including a Beverly Hills house and a Nashville penthouse.
