‘Rings’ 2017 Horror Movie Out This February Against ‘Split’ & Super Bowl; Watch The Trailers!
A horror series makes a comeback 15 years later with a third film. "Rings" 2017 is the third movie in the American version of the Japanese horror flick "The Ring". The first two movies dealt with a haunted VHS that will kill viewers unless they pass the curse on to someone else.
This time, the "Rings" 2017 trailer reveals that the curse can spread online through emails, which means that the film will somehow dispense of the ancient VHS tape. According to Variety, the new film revolves around a young woman who helps her boyfriend uncover the secrets behind a cursed video whose viewers die within a week of watching it.
The movie was made with a $25 million budget and has an all-new "Rings" 2017 cast. Naomi Watts will not be back to reprise her role. In fact, it would seem that the movie's only connection to the former films is the premise and Samara's continuing curse. The film cast includes Johnny Galecki, Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe, and Vincent D'Onofrio.
The "Rings" 2017 movie is looking to make it big on its opening week, but it has to compete with M. Night Shyamalan's "Split" and the Super Bowl. "Split", starring James McAvoy, has a lot of positive film reviews and stays on top in ticket sales since its January release. According to the LA Times, producers should expect a decrease in viewership once Super Bowl hits since many fans will stay at home to watch.
The third film was intended to be a prequel for the trilogy, but it is now set more than a decade after the events of "The Ring Two". Julia (Matilda Lutz) watches the cursed video for her boyfriend, Holt (Alex Roe) and learns something that years of dead victims have never uncovered: a secret recording within the clip. Whether the new twist will add more dimension to the film remains to be seen.
