Lenovo Yoga series now has a new budget member. The company has launched a new 2-in-1 Yoga A12 Android tablet. The main feature of the tablet is its cheap price tag but offering the same sketchpad/keyboard available on Lenovo Yoga Book.

Lenovo Yoga A12, the company's newly launched convertible, is a stripped-down version of the much expensive Lenovo Yoga Book. The new tablet will be running Android OS as opposed to Yoga Book's Android and Windows variants as reported by Tech2. The device will be available on February 8 and can be purchased through Lenovo's website starting at $299. The color options available are - rose gold and gunmetal gray.

The machine is powered by an Intel Atom X5 processor coupled with 2GB RAM. Lenovo Yoga A12 is 12.2-inch convertible with full HD screen and it can swivel up to 360 degrees around the keyboard. The device can be folded all the way back such that it can be used as a tablet. The convertible comes with 32GB internal memory and battery life claims are around 13 hours by the company.

One of striking feature of Lenovo Yoga A12 is its keyboard/sketchpad. Lenovo calls it "Halo" keyboard and it can be used as a sketchpad. It is not an actual keyboard and the keys are soft touch and backlit which provide haptic feedback whenever the user touches them as reported by Venture Beat. The company claims that device learns user's typing habits over time and adapts them.

The new convertible weighs less than 1Kg and is 5.4mm thick at the thinnest point making it great for portability. The Lenovo Yoga A12 is placed at a similar price point as Chromebooks from Acer and Samsung. However, the device might not be as powerful as the rival tablets and laptops. But the laptop has a "Halo" keyboard which is one of its kind and is not available in budget laptops and tablets.
