Lady Gaga's Sales Went 1000% Up After Superbowl Performance, Received Body Shaming Comments
Lady Gaga made the audience gaga over her half-time performance on Superbowl halftime show. After the trick with the drones and the pre-recorded jump from the roof, the 30-year-old singer owned the Superbowl and social media sites over her dashing performance. With this performance, Gaga's latest album sales went up to 1000%.
According to Billboard, the initial sales reports from February 5 shows that Lady Gaga sold about 150,000 digital copies of her album "Joanne". It was a 1000% increase from the 15,000 digital copies of the album sold the day before. This record also beat the sales record from January 27 to February 2, which consists of 30,000 albums and songs sold in a span of one week.
Gaga's performance included all the three songs that reached the top Billboard spot; "Just Dance," "Pokerface" and "Born This Way". These three songs were performed along with her other popular songs "Telephone" and "Bad Romance". Lady Gaga's single "Million Reasons" was also performed in the 13-minute long show.
As reported by BBC, the diva posted to her Instagram account that she's "proud" of her looks and that everyone should be proud of theirs too. It was after the criticism of her stomach in which some watchers says that Lady Gaga "wasn't fit enough".
"I could give you a million reasons why you don't need to cater to anyone or anything to succeed," Lady Gaga said in her post. "Be you, and be relentlessly you. That's the stuff of champions. Thank you so much, everyone, for supporting me."
Lady Gaga's Superbowl half-time performance is surely a bomb dropped to all of the social media sites. But some commentators seem to theorize that Gaga's Superbowl 51 set that features "This Land Is Your Land" which followed by "God Bless America" and "Born This Way" was political. It is not also avoided that some of the watchers had a say to the diva's body.
