"Criminal Minds" Season 12 will return on Feb. 15, 2017 with its shocking Episode 13 titled "Spencer". The network revealed a promo trailer for the very episode and it got fans talking. SSA Spencer Reid is imprisoned in Mexico after being accused of Murder.

The "Spencer" episode will take the BAU agents on a different case this time when one of their own is incarcerated in Mexico. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) has been accused of murder. What's worse is that he doesn't remember what exactly happened. Aside from that mystery, "Criminal Minds" fans will want to see the "Beyond Borders" crossover, CarterMatt reports.

Whether this has something to do with a serial killer or Reid inheriting his mother's disease is still up in the air. What's for sure is that the next few episodes in "Criminal Minds" Season 12 will deal with a huge story arc that will last longer than two episodes.

Showrunner Erica Messer told TV Line that the next few episodes of "Criminal Minds" Season 12 will be serialized. The show will focus on one very big arc that will last until the season finale. That arc will largely focus on Spencer Reid's journey, which will affect the team in a huge way, especially when a serial killer from the past makes a comeback.

Messer was hesitant to reveal the character, saying that it would be a major spoiler. The UnSub is on the same level as Mr. Scratch and Tommy Yates. The producer went on to say that they wanted to bring back the former characters that made a huge impact on the characters for the latter half of "Criminal Minds" Season 12.

She also revealed that "Lost" actor Harold Perinneau will return as Calvin Shaw in one of the later episodes. Many fans feared that the "Criminal Minds" Season 12 Episode 13 will be Gubler's last appearance, but the producers have stressed that viewers will not be saying goodbye to Reid at all.
