Adele Split 'Album Of The Year' Award With Beyoncé At Grammys 2017! Winning Causes Backlash?
Well undeniably, the highlight of the Grammys 2017 would definitely be by Adele who literally split the 'Album Of The Year' award into two and giving the other piece to Beyoncé. Does Adele have to do that?
Upon Adele's acceptance speech, what the songstress stated became the most talked about topics related to the Grammys 2017, according The Independent. "I can't possibly accept this award. The 'Lemonade' album was just so monumental, Beyoncé. It was so monumental and well thought-out and beautiful and soul-bearing... we appreciate that. All of us artists here adore you. You are our light," Adele said while facing Beyoncé herself and the massive audience.
After giving that heartfelt speech, Adele was evidently so emotional that she did something that has relatively never been witnessed on the Grammys history before. Unexpectedly, Adele unhesitatingly broke her trophy in half and offered one piece to Beyoncé.
According to BBC News, the 28-year-old singer won four other awards in addition to the one she broke. Aside from winning the prestigious 'Album Of The Year' award, Adele also won Grammys for the 'Song Of The Year'. She again went against Beyoncé in this category.
Despite all the praises and nice comments from the World Wide Web, the winning of Adele has again caused controversies. Criticisms to the award-giving body's bias surface once again arguing that there is unfairness towards artists with darker skin color. Artists such as Frank Ocean and Kanye West notably agreed with the idea as they chose to boycott the prestigious music event.
Back to Adele, the recording artist revealed that she was confident that the Grammy for 'Album Of The Year' would expectedly go to Beyonce during this year's event. "I thought it was her year. What the f*** does she have to do to win Album of the Year?"
Meanwhile, Grammy 2017 winners also include Chance The Rapper who brought home a total of three Grammys, including one for the 'Best Rap Album' for the self-released record "Coloring Book."And of course, while Beyoncé failed to bagged the 'Album Of The Year', she was honored with other awards like 'Best Urban Contemporary Album' as well as the' Best Music Video' for "Formation." She also slayed her live performance while being pregnant with twins.
