Xiaomi Mi Max phablet was launched by the company in 2016. It featured a big 6.44-inch screen and was meant for multimedia consumption. As per the reports, the successor to the phone named Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will be launched this year.

In the design department Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will be similar to the original Mi Max as it features the same sized screen. The upcoming smartphone is expected to use the same metal back and glass on the front. The handset will also feel premium and slim similar to its predecessor the Xiaomi Mi Max.

Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will get a hardware refresh too. The new device will feature a Snapdragon 660 processor and 4 or 6GB RAM depending on the model. The smartphone will also get a bump in the battery capacity and will feature a 5000 mAH battery compared to 4850 mAH on the original Mi Max. The battery will support fast charging, reported BGR.

The build quality of Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is expected to be great as of the last year's Mi Max. The company is expected to reduce the bezels to make the phone easier to operate with one hand. The new phone will retain full HD screen of the predecessor and a UHD screen might not make its way to the Xiaomi Mi Max 2. This is because Mi Max 2 will be a mid-range device targeted at users who consume lot of media on their devices.

Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is expected to come in two variants one with 32/64GB internal storage and 4GB RAM and "Prime" version with 128GB internal storage and 6GB RAM, reported Digitaltrends. Also, Xiaomi is expected to put Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on the upcoming Mi Max 2 with 2.5D curved glass.

Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will be available for $250-$300 depending on the configuration. The original Mi Max was a great device for people who want a big screen on their smartphones. The company is expected to repeat the same success formula this time also.
