Everyone knew it was going to be a summer blockbuster, but just in cast anyone had any doubts, "Iron Man 3" earned a huge $68.3 million at the box office on Friday. The Marvel movie starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, and Don Cheadle could end up making more than $170 million in its opening weekend. Number two at the box office on Friday was "Pain & Gain," which brought in $2 million.

It wasn't really a surprise to anyone over the movie's opening weekend success, especially since its already proven to be a blockbuster in its first two installments. Let's not forget, also, the big name stars involved in the movie and all the promotion leading up to its opening weekend. You couldn't go anywhere without hearing about Gwyneth Paltrow being named People magazine's "Most Beautiful Woman." Paltrow couldn't flinch without the media covering it. The question is just how big will this weekend's numbers come in at?

If "Iron Man 3" pulls in $175 million, what many are expecting, then it will become the second best domestic opening of all time beating "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2's" $169.5 million and "The Dark Knight Rises'" $160 million. The biggest domestic opening will still likely go to "The Avengers'" $207 opening weekend.

In other "Iron Man 3" news, Paltrow told fans in a Q and A posted on Babble.com that some people want her to get her own spinoff. "The nice thing is that everybody's sort of been very sweet about Pepper in this movie, like all the journalists who came in," Paltrow said. "They were like, 'Oh my god, you have to have your own movie,' because in the comics, Pepper gets her own suit, and she becomes a character called Rescue. They're like, 'We need a Rescue movie,' and I'm like, 'Okay, well, I'd better hit the gym.'" Could we see a Rescue spinoff?

There haven't ever really been many rumors about a Paltrow spinoff, but who knows. After seeing the success of "Iron Man 3" the studio may want to try and capitalize as much as it can. There have already been rumors of a Cheadle starred War Machine spinoff. Why not a Paltrow Rescue spinoff? Would you want to see a Paltrow starred comic book movie?
