Justin Timberlake Announces 'The 20/20 Experience' Sequel Release Date, Second Half Of JT's New Album Hits Shelves September 30

Justin Timberlake has announced the release date for the sequel (or second half) of his latest album The 20/20 Experience. JT revealed that the new album will hit shelves on September 30 via an Instagram pic of himself playing guitar and singing in studio. In the foreground, a piece of posterboard can be seen that reads “THE 20/20 EXPERIENCE (2 OF 2) SEPTEMBER 30TH.”

Justin Timberlake admitted that the 20/20 Experience would be a two-parter during his album release party in March.

"I've got to clear up the rumors," he said "This whole thing about this only being the first part...is true. There is another half."

Those rumors were started by Roots drummer Questlove on his site Okayplayer. After the New York Times gave the album an unfavorable review, Questlove told them to be patient, as more was on the way.

"i will say the album is OVERLY ambitious. like a LOT of ideas crammed into one," he wrote. "spoiler alert. 20/20 Vol 2 comes out in nov. (10 songs now.....10 songs later= 20 vision)."

While Quest was off on the release date, he was right that Timberlake would be releasing a second half.

Here’s hoping it’s better than the first. Though “Suit and Tie” and “Mirrors” are both sound pop songs, the rest of the album was a meandering mess, especially when held up against 2006’s Futuresex/Lovesounds. Timberlake again goes for the long, drawn out tracks on The 20/20 Experience but unlike the 8-minute jams found of FS/LS, you feel the length of every song on his latest release.

Maybe once we have both halves of the record, it will all turn out to be the pop classic we expected.
