Joe Francis Convicted: 'Girls Gone Wild' Creator Found Guilty of Falsely Imprisoning Women & Assault, Faces 5 Years in Jail
Girls Gone Wild creator Joe Francis is looking at five years in prison after being convicted of three counts of false imprisonment as well as one count of assault. Francis was also convicted of dissuading a witness from reporting. Unfortunately for him, the women involved went to police, which led to this conviction about two years later. The soft-core pornography mogul could be sentenced to five yeas in jail for his crimes and is currently awaiting his sentencing hearing, which is set for tomorrow.
On Monday, the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office stated that a jury had convicted Francis of "three counts of false imprisonment, one count of dissuading a witness from reporting and one count of assault causing great bodily injury."
The city attorney also said that in 2011 the 40-year-old founder of Girls Gone Wild invited three women to get inside his limo outside Supperclub in Hollywood. From there Francis took them back to his home, refused to let the women leave, and then "grabbed one of the women by the throat and hair and slammed her head into the tile floor four times," according to the City Attorney's Office. After the incident, Joe Francis escorted the three women from his home and told them not to call the police. They reported the incident anyway.
According to TMZ, Mr. Francis faces up to five years in jail and his sentencing hearing is set for Wednesday (tomorrow).
This is not the first time Joe Francis has been allegedly involved in a physical altercation with a female. Just last year, police stated that a car collision in Beverly Hills turned into a physical confrontation with a woman. Also, Playboy model Jayde Nicole had previously accused the Girls Gone Wild creator of physical assault, which was also at a Hollywood nightclub.
