Star Wars: Episode VII news has been pouring in since its announcement earlier this year. One of the bigger stories was when J.J. Abrams was confirmed to direct the seventh installment of the iconic film franchise. Abrams of course has seen a lot of success with his Star Trek reboot, and the latest installment Star Trek Into Darkness comes out this month. But with his new job as Star Wars director, will Abrams have time for a third Star Trek? Also, what can we expect in terms of plot for the Episode VII? Actor Mark Hamill shares some ideas and hopes for the new film.

The man who played Luke Skywalker in the original three films, said confirmed during a special screening of Return of the Jedi that he was in fact involved in the new film. Hamill has yet to meet with J.J. Abrams but has met with producer Kathleen Kennedy to talk about the next chapter. The two apparently talked about CGI usage in the new film.

"There's nothing wrong with CGI, but I think you have to have a balance because the camera perceives the width and the depth and the weight of a miniature or a model," Hamill said.

When talking about his role in Episode VII, Hamill talked mainly about "handing the reigns" over to the younger actors. He also talked about possible Jedi scenes, saying:

"I want it to be age appropriate, so heavy on the Jedi mind tricks and lighten up on the lightsaber duels. Let the kids do the heavily lifting!"

He continued:

"I'm one of you, I feel like you're one of us. I'll be in there fighting and trying to be as honest as I can be about what I think it is made these movies so special in the first place. It always starts with the script and that's why I'm so encouraged by Michael Arndt's involvement because I respect his writing so much. He's a big fan of these movies, so hopefully we can make something that doesn't make everyone want to find us, cut off our heads and throw it right in our faces."

As for J.J. Abrams' other franchise, Star Trek, it looks like he might be out as director for the third installment in the science fiction series. According to a New York Times article on Abrams attempting to take on both franchises in the future, he might be stretched too thin to do this. The article said:

He was noncommittal about directing a third "Star Trek," except to say that Bad Robot would produce it. He said it was unlikely that Paramount would wait another four years for such a film, in which case his "Star Wars" schedule would likely conflict with it.
