‘Timeless’ Season 2 May Get New Schedule; NBC Hints At Renewal
The fate of "Timeless" Season 2 is up in the air as NBC has yet to announce a renewal or a cancellation. However, the network previously hinted at the possibility of a renewal in previous interviews.
NBC Entertainment president Jenifer Salke may have hinted at the possibility of "Timeless" Season 2 back in January. She sounded optimistic about the show's future during an interview at the Television Critics Association Press Tour.
Salke expressed her support for the time-travel series. She revealed that the network supports the show. She told Deadline that NBC really likes the show. Her statement may already be a hint at "Timeless" Season 2.
However, she also expressed her surprise that "Timeless" did not do so well in terms of viewership. "I didn't think it was going to be like 'This Is Us,' but I am a little surprised that it didn't settle in at a higher number," Salke said.
Regardless, the publication claimed NBC does not want to disappoint the show and its fans. There is supposedly a likely chance that "Timeless" Season 2 could happen. Even though Sony TV produces the show, NBC still owns half of it. Despite the small ratings, the network reportedly still earns from the show.
Likewise, there have been early talks about the renewal. If "Timeless" Season 2 does happen, then NBC might move it to a new time slot. This is considering that it is not really a family viewing show. If NBC does renew, then the installment might fall on the 8:00 p.m. schedule every Friday.
Elsewhere, while NBC has yet to make up its mind, showrunner Eric Kripke also expressed his interest in the renewal. He previously revealed his plans to pitch his storyline for "Timeless" Season 2 in April. It all now depends on NBC if it will renew or cancel. Perhaps the ratings for the Season 1 Finale might convince the network, according to TV Line.
Season 1 of the series ended with 3.37 million views. It increased the show's ratings to 0.9 from its previous episodes. Likewise, the cliffhanger in the finale certainly needs further exploring. This is where "Timeless" Season 2 comes in.
