'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ Trailer Offers Glimpse Of Ego
The latest "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" trailer was released over a week ago but fans are still going gaga over it. That is because it is packed with action scenes, gives a wider look into the plot and finally introduced Ego the Living Planet.
Ego The Living Planet was nowhere to be seen in the first "Guardians" movie, nor was there any mention of him. Certainly, nobody knew that he would be the father of Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, in the MCU. But at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con, James Gunn revealed that the sentient planet would be Star-Lord's long lost dad. And the new "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" trailer confirmed what the director said.
The Huffington Post shared that Ego The Living Planet was a villain in the "Thor" comic series. The Norse god of thunder exiled him to The Black Galaxy because of the havoc he wreaked in another galaxy. However, it is not yet known whether that will be the background of Ego in the upcoming movie. But what fans do know is that Ego can both be a full-sized planet and a human. His human form will be portrayed by Kurt Russell, as the brand new "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" trailer showed.
The question of the Star-Lord's parentage may have been resolved, but Ego The Living Planet's appearance raises more questions. Plus, /FILM pointed out that the only proof he is Peter Quill's biologic pop is his word. Additionally, why did he reveal himself only now? Or has he been really searching for his son this whole time as he said when he introduced himself in the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" trailer?
So far, there are only speculations as to what Ego's role will be, as the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" trailer did not give much for people to go by. He could be the primary antagonist or he could be one of the many pains in the neck the Guardians will meet along the way. But no matter how it will turn out, nothing can dampen the excitement of fans from witnessing Baby Groot and his adorableness in action.
