"It becomes a moral conundrum to Barry and the team" whether they should imprison or let Abra Kadabra go to get answers. Kreisberg said the villain's appearance puts the question, "Can you be a hero if you do one bad thing for the greater good?" into perspective.
Eventually, Abra Kadabra escapes, according to the synopsis for "The Flash" Season 3 Episode 18 from Flickering Myth. The villain bargains with Barry to free him so he can reveal Savitar's identity. However, before Barry can decide Gypsy interferes and takes Abra Kadabra as her prisoner. She also accidentally lets him escape, which angers Barry.
The synopsis teases a battle happens between Barry's team and Gypsy in "The Flash" Season 3 Episode 18. Cisco is forced to take sides and Caitlin gets injured.
In related news, "The Flash" Season 3 is the last fans will see a speedster as the show's Big Bad. Kreisberg said Season 4 will feature a regular human as the main villain. However, he did not narrow down the names of The Flash's potential nemesis.
