Google App Update Includes Major Changes For Mobile, Now Smarter And Better
Google is not slowing down when it comes to improving their apps. According to reports, its search engine will be having another update for mobile users and it will be smarter and more relevant.
The California-based company is reportedly adding shortcuts in its mobile versions. This time, users can find answers to their queries by tapping rather than typing, Time reported.
The Google Search App and the Search homepage on the mobile web are bound to include a shortcut for one's areas of interest like weather, sports, food and drinks, and entertainment. The news headlines will show relevant information based on your interest, allowing you to tap individual topics to browse the detailed information.
If the mobile user taps on entertainment, the Google Search App will show showtime, trailers and any news related to movies and TV. For sports, it will include scores and news related to your favorite team.
The update will be available for both iOS and Android users. However, a few tappable will only be available for the latter. For instance, the currency converter, Solitaire, tip calculator and animal sounds are exclusive to Android, technobuffalo reported.
Actually, Android users are getting more 40 shortcuts which will also include booking a flight and nearby ATMs and grocery stores which will be very useful, especially if one is exploring a new place. On the other hand, iOS app will only be able to access weather, entertainment, eat and drink and sports. There are no words if the tappable exclusive to Android will be available to iOS but chances are high that it will.
"We looked at, what are people doing the most in your locale," said Tamar Yehoshua, Google's vice president of product management. "[And then] we prioritized those as options."
