Eminem Album Update: 'Lose Yourself' Rapper Working on New Music in LA for 2017 Release
Rap legend Eminem (Marshall Bruce Mathers III) is set to release a 2017 new album and speculations hint that he will be collaborating with longtime friend Dr. Dre. The rapper had revealed last year that he was working on a new album and he is now in Los Angeles, producing his new songs.
Stat Quo, who had a disagreement with Eminem before, revealed to Hip Hop DX that the "Rap God" rapper really was working on a new album. Stat Quo went on to explain what happened between him and Eminem. They had been working on the song, "Dance On It", which the "Lose Yourself" rapper himself had written. Stat Quo didn't like the chorus, although it was his part to sing. The two rappers had a disagreement and eventually, Stat Quo left Shady Records.
Eminem released his eighth studio album, "The Marshall Mathers LP 2," over four years ago. Since then, he had been involved in other creative projects. He was notably very hands-on with his own label, Shady Records, which handled the soundtrack for the movie "Southpaw." It wasn't his only foray into movie soundtrack albums, though. One of his songs also became part of the "Suicide Squad" album. He also served as music supervisor for the TV series "Motor City."
Eminem has also been known to tell his stories and socio-political opinions through his songs. Last year, he performed "Campaign Speech," a political hiphop song. Last month, he appeared in Big Sean's album single "No Favors," where he said negative things about Donald Trump and Trump supporter, Ann Coulter.
Now that he is focused on his new album, Radio published a list of big-time singers that Eminem might collaborate with. The most likely candidate is Dr. Dre, who first introduced Slim Shady to the rap scene. Their last collaboration was Dr. Dre's "Medicine Man" back in 2015.
Eminem might also collaborate with 50 Cent, another friend he worked with before on songs like "Crack a Bottle" and "Psycho". Considering that the Detroit native has worked before with singers like Rihanna and Dido, it's not a stretch that he might work with Lana Del Rey for some soulful R&B music this year.
