Johnny Depp is set to play John McAfee, the founder of McAfee Associates. Anyone using a computer will know about McAfee, the first commercial antivirus software. Depp will star in McAfee's biopic "King Of the Jungle" which will cover McAfee's rise and fall and the criminal charges surrounding him.

Actor Johnny Depp is well-known for portraying eccentric characters like Captain Jack Sparrow ("Pirates of the Caribbean") and the Hatter ("Alice in Wonderland"). Now, he will play the role of John McAfee, a computer businessman accused of murder, whose life is surrounded by sex, murder, scandal, and paranoia.

Deadline broke the news recently that the biopic "King Of the Jungle" will start with John McAfee taking a Wired magazine writer on a tour of his Belize compound. So far, only Johnny Depp has been announced as part of the cast. McAfee's life is filled with controversies, from his financial crisis to charges of murder.

McAfee started his company in 1987 and left it in 1994. He earned $100 million in 2007, but he lost a lot of money during the global financial crisis soon after. He invested in many different businesses and he was also interested in politics. In fact, he wanted to run for president during the 2016 elections. The Johnny Depp starrer will be directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa ("Crazy, Stupid, Love").

The film will also explore McAfee's controversy surrounding the death of his neighbor, Gregory Faull. According to CNET, McAfee once hid from the Belize police because he was wanted for questioning about Faull's death. The computer security entrepreneur also said that Faull was killed because of a mistaken identity and that the killer was really after him. McAfee was reportedly paranoid, so Johnny Depp will have no trouble portraying this eccentric millionaire.

The "King Of the Jungle" biopic script will be written by the people behind "The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story" Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski. There's still no news about the release date, although there's a good chance it will be next year. There are still also no announcements about the Wired writer who will star opposite Johnny Depp.
