It may be hard to remember, but Kanye West- the Kim Kardashian-dating egomaniac who creates fashion lines, collaborates with Daft Punk and screams at the top of his lungs about being a god- used to be just another talented producer who made some waves after rapping with his jaw wired shut.

As we gear up for another Kanye album (which is almost certainly going to be another dark look at the the psyche of a wealthy music icon and not a bopping, crate-digging take on the struggles of a college dropout) it may be beneficial to remember where he came from. Kanye superfan James Workman has us covered with a 45-minute documentary he created called Where The Lonely Kids Go When The Bell Rings. The movie is made up of archive footage of Kanye and covers Yeezy from College Dropout to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. He posted the doc to fan website Kanye to The with the following note:

"My first intention was to make like a 10 minute video with Kanye quotes and such, but I had so much material so I decided to make it a tad longer. The closest I could get to a real documentary. (We really need one in all honesty).

My goal was to capture something from every solo album, and the video is basically chronological. Starting with CD and ending with MBDTF.

I entitled it Where The Lonely Kids Go When The Bell Rings (I know that's not the actual line in Eyes Closed), because I feel like that sums up Kanye's career - The outsider. The misunderstood genius.

This took me 5000 hours to make so please be kind..."
