"Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" Season 2 could happen, given the ending in the first season. Stars Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham expressed their interest in returning to the franchise if needed.

Deadline hosted The Contenders Emmys panel recently where Graham and Bledel shared their thoughts on the ending of Season 1. The former thought that how the season ended deserves a "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" Season 2. She did not think the show ended with a closure to Rory's story.

To recap, the revival ended with Rory (Bledel) telling her mother Lorelai (Graham) that she is pregnant. Graham thought the show ended with a cliffhanger that deserves to be explored in "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" Season 2.

Bledel chimed and admitted that she was surprised by the ending herself. She said that she did not expect to see that ending since she wanted Rory to succeed. The 35-year-old revealed that she had told writer Amy Sherman-Palladino to end her character's story on a high note. Bledel admitted that she had a hard time digesting the end to Rory's story in Season 1.

Perhaps, there is a reason why Season 1 ended in a cliffhanger, and it could be a hint to the possibility of "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life' Season 2." Netflix president Ted Sarandos had hinted at the renewal in March. According to E! News, he revealed that Sherman-Palladino and the network had early talks about the renewal.

As for Graham and Bledel, they expressed their interest in returning to reprise their character if "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" Season 2 happens. Graham said she would play Lorelai "until her dying day." Bledel said her return would depend on the story the show is telling. "I'm just interested in telling a story that is dynamic and that I sort of relate to and can hook into," she said.
