O.J. Simpson in Court: 'The Juice' Claiming Las Vegas Defense Lawyer to Blame Not Concussions, New Hearing For a New Trial

Remember Hall-of-Fame NFL running back and suspected murderer O.J. Simpson? Simpson's 1995 trial for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman received national headlines.  Well, he is back in the news as he tries again to get out of jail after spending the last four years there. Simpson was convicted in a 2008 Las Vegas trial for armed robbery and kidnapping. Simpson will try to get a new trial by arguing that he had such bad representation from his defense lawyer Yale Galanter that he didn't get a fair trial.

Most people remember the famous 1995 murder trial that shocked the nation when Simpson was let free. Many thought the evidence against Simpson was so overwhelming there was no way Simpson could be found not-guilty in the murder of his ex-wife and her friend. Simpson was found not-guilty. However, in another shocking move in Simpson's life, he confronted memorabilia dealers in a hotel room to try and reclaim some of his heirlooms, which ultimately resulted in Simpson being convicted of armed robbery and kidnapping.

Simpson would have to serve 9 to 33 years in prison. Simpson has served just four years so far and he is 65-years-old. It's fairly safe to assume that if Simpson doesn't win a new trial, he could be spending the rest of his life in prison. In a strange twist; however, not for the murder of his ex-wife and her friend.

Simpson's was thought to bring a defense centered around concussions. Simpson and his new defense lawyer were reportedly going to argue that the years of abuse he sustained while playing in the NFL led to concussions, which altered his thinking. Apparently, Simpson's new defense team doesn't think that will work. So now, Simpson will give it one last Hail-Mary attempt and argue that his defense lawyer didn't do a good enough job. Will it work? With O.J. Simpson, anything is possible.
